"Migrant Mother"

This photograph was taken by Dorothea Lange in California in 1936, it was titled "Migrant Mother" and symbolized the great depression; in this image had observed at a homeless mother with her children, all on my bad side because of the cruel poverty, this photography moves me because it shows me the reality of other people who actually live day to day surviving and with too many worries, that makes me think of the injustice that exists and also makes me think of why so many millionaires in the world having so many poor at a time, and poverty hasn’t boundaries, even children suffer from hunger, cold, abandoned, without anyone's help. "Humanity must do something for humanity, and all must move us to see these images that freeze the soul and makes us reflect.

  1. Good work, Patricia. You did a nice job describing the picture and your reaction. Did you read the story about it? Apparently when it was published, many people were touched and sent food to the family in the picture, but they had already moved away.

One question for you, is this a quotation at the end "Humanity must do something for humanity...?" If so, who said it originally?

    Some corrections:
in this image, the viewer observes a homeless mother

"all on my bad side"--I am unsure what you mean to say here. can you rephrase it?

    this photograph (not this photography)

why are there so many millionaires in the world WHEN there are so many poor people at the same time

    poverty doesn't have boundaries

  2. hey Patricia ... i totally agree with u .. u know what ? i cant stand people who is so indifferent to all these kinds of problems .. I think something is really important and maybe we are losing in these days .. and that's the power of love to others. Sometimes we locked in our selfish world and that's the worst thing.

And teacher Lindsay .. when u have mentioned about " Apparently when it was published, many people were touched and sent food to the family in the picture" , u made me think in people that works to bring some help like food , water and clothing that other people have collected to others who really need that .... Those people who know there are others who are in need, they stay with all that help and never deliver it to people who really need all that.. I think that's other of the worst things in this crazy world ... so i can say that its hard to me understand our behavior .. because sometimes can be awesome and then can be totally awful.

  3. speaking of giving to others....check out this website. there is a good video, too.

its about thinking of something you have too much of, and then giving half of it away. This family actually sold their house and bought one half the size.
